Story of Raksha Bandhan 2026 | Indra and Indrani<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A long time ago there was a fierce battle between the other gods and demons including Devraj Indra. This war lasted for about 12 years. But the demons were not giving up in this. And the gods were also facing difficulties to achieve victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indra Dev was very upset by this long war. To get a solution from this problem, Indra went to Brihaspati, the guru of the gods. And asked him for a solution to achieve victory. Guru Brihaspati told Devraj Indra a way to do defense legislation with mantras. On the full moon day of the month of Shravan, Jupiter started with the chanting of defense legislation. Later, Indrani, the wife of Indra, was asked to tie the Raksha Potli on Indra’s right hand. Due to which Devraj Indra got the shield. After that Indra and the rest of the gods won the ongoing war of about 12 years with the demons. The demons were destroyed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Story of Raksha Bandhan 2026 | Shri Krishna and Draupadi<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, the second story of Raksha Bandhan comes from Mahabharata. Dharmaraja Yudhishthira was being crowned. Where all the big kings of India were invited. It also included Shishu Pal. Shishupala was the son of Lord Krishna’s aunt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aunt had already come to know through Akashvani. My nephew Shri Krishna will kill his son Shishupala. Shishupal was very young. Mother was worried about him. The aunt asked Shri Krishna to promise to forgive Shishupala. So in response, Shri Krishna said “Bua, I will not kill Shishupala directly, but I promise, after completing 100 crimes, I will kill him.” Bua liked this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What will you do to complete my 100 crimes ?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Shishupal used to hate Shri Krishna since childhood, was very arrogant and proud. The name of Shishupala used to come in the mighty kings of India. That’s why he used to torture many kings and subjects. He used to help the enemies against Shri Krishna. Many times Shishupala had challenged Shri Krishna. But Shri Krishna did not give any answer. During the reign of Dharmaraja Yudhishthira, Shishupala insults Shri Krishna a lot. Seeing Shri Krishna in the coronation, he considers himself an insult to him. Shishupala calls Krishna good and bad and challenges him. “My 100 crimes are done, what will you do?” And one after the other uses abusive language against Lord Krishna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Draupadi tore her pallu and tied rakhi to Shri Krishna<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This angered Lord Krishna. As soon as Shishupala’s 100th offense is completed, he kills Shishupala with his Sudarshan Chakra. His finger gets hurt while running Sudarshan Chakra. And the finger starts bleeding. Draupadi standing there could not see this. And Draupadi tears the pallu of her sari and ties a bandage on the finger of Shri Krishna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then Lord Shri Krishna promises to repay this debt to him, in due time. And when an attempt is made to abduct Draupadi’s clothes in a gathering in Hastinapur. Draupadi is often humiliated in the assembly. Draupadi calls everyone present there for help. But no one can help him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shri Krishna’s help to Draupadi<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Draupadi calls out to Lord Krishna in her heart. Then Lord Krishna reaches there in a subtle way. And with his Maya, he enlarges Draupadi’s sari. Dushyasan gets tired of pulling Draupadi’s sari. But Draupadi’s sari doesn’t end there. Such a brother takes the responsibility of protecting his sister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At present, the festival of Raksha Bandhan has become a festival of brother-sister relationship. The one who keeps the sacred relationship of brother and sister tied with a silky string.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
