Bhai Dooj 2026 is an important festival of love between brother and sister. Bhai Dooj is celebrated on the second day of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. Bhai Dooj is also known as Yama Dwitiya. In the festival of Bhai Dooj 2026, which comes two days after Diwali, the sister wishes for long life and health for the brother.

Mythological belief of Bhai Dooj

The beliefs of Bhai Dooj 2026 are mentioned in mythology. Long time ago, on this day sister Yamuna called her brother Yamraj to her house and fed him with respect. Yama Dev became very satisfied that day. All the living beings who were suffering in hell were freed from the tortures on that day. Together they celebrated this joy as a festival.

Worships Yama Dev in Brahmamuhurta

There was an atmosphere of happiness in all the three worlds. This festival later came to be known as Yama Dwitiya Tithi. It is considered as such. On this day, if a person worships Yama Dev in Brahmamuhurta, takes a bath in the Yamuna river. So he is freed from his sins. And that person does not have to go to hell.

The story of Bhai Dooj

Yamraj was always busy with his work. He could not get time to meet his loved ones from his work. Sister Yamuna urged her brother many times to come home. But Yama Dev used to postpone the talk of Yamuna due to being busy. One day, on the Shukla Dwitiya of Kartik month, Yamraj suddenly came to the door of his sister Yamuna. Then Yamuna became very happy. His happiness knew no bounds.

Yamuna fed her brother with her own hands. Honored Yamraj. Yamraj was also pleased and became satisfied. Being happy, Yamraj asked Yamuna to seek blessings. Yamuna said, “Whoever sister feeds her brother with love on this day. Let that brother and sister not have any fear of you.” Yamraj was pleased and blessed Yamuna. “so be it !” From this day the practice of the festival of Bhai Dooj, the love of brother and sister, started. Whichever brother eats food from this day by sticking to his sister. He is not afraid of premature death from Yamraj.
